SHINee, who has done exceptionally well this year with “Lucifer” returns with their repackaged second album titled, “Hello.” It includes thirteen plus three additional new songs specially packaged for this release.

The album starts off with a powerful dance number, “Lucifer,” the title track off their original sophomore album. It uses both the break dance genre popular in the ‘80s along with urban electronica, making it all the more refreshing and addictive. The lyrics portray a selfish heart who mistakes obsession as love, going back and forth between blackmail and conciliation. Personally, the song ranks top three out of my SHINee favorites along with “Replay” and “Ring Ding Dong.” The beats and word choice in this number are just so catchy.

The next song is the title track for the repackaged album, “Hello.” In contrast to “Lucifer,” this medium tempo R&B pop number shows off the boys’ sweeter side. In all honesty, it took me a while to get used to the song, but now it is another one of my most replayed SHINee songs.

Track four is “UP&DOWN,” a medium tempo number with heavy beats and catchy melody. The mood of the song is very light and bubbly, and I felt that the boys were able to showcase a bit of their vocals here.

The last two songs I enjoyed were “Love Pain” and “Love Still Goes On.” The former is a medium-tempo R&B track with smooth beats and melody. The overall sound of the song is very slick with great vocal arrangements and a catchy chorus. “Love Still Goes On” on the other hand is a bit more upbeat with good incorporation of rap and vocals.

Besides these five numbers, the others weren’t as memorable in my book. Sure, songs like “Get It” and “Shout Out” had the heavy beat elements while “One” and “Quasimodo” showcased the boys’ vocal talents. However, they seemed very generic in my opinion. I felt that the album was missing songs with better quality such as “Lucifer.” Thus, in conclusion, I feel that fans would really get a kick out of all the songs, but non-fans may just enjoy a selective few.

4/5

5/5 - Even if you're not a fan of this artist/group this album is a must buy.
4/5 - If you're a fan of this artist/group, you must buy this album.
3/5 - If you're a fan of this artist/group, you might want to add this one to your collection.
2/5 - I don't think a fan would even buy this.
1/5 - You might as well just flush your money down the toilet
